Newsweek
Building an audience team for a legendary magazine's second life.

The challenge
After IBT Media bought Newsweek in 2013, the relaunched magazine needed a cross-brand audience engagement practice from scratch.
The insight
A newsroom changes when its habits change — training, guidelines, and partnerships outlast any single campaign.
The solution
Kate hired and led a team of three, grew social followings across every platform, built a print relaunch event at SXSW on short notice, established content distribution partnerships, and wrote the company's first community guidelines, social best practices, and SEO standards across two newsrooms. She also reversed a legacy Reddit ban, built a YouTube conversation series with the 92nd Street Y, and supported Newsweek International in London.
